How long does a diagnostic test take at an auto shop?
Q. I dropped it off at 10am and I'm just wondering how long it generally takes before the diagnosis is complete (assuming they start on it right away- which is unlikely). I'm trying to figure out why it's jerking/ shaking and my RPM meter fluctuates when I'm at a stop and is worse when the heat is on. It actually shut off this morning! (hit adeer, but cosmetic damage is fixed) Also, what are the pros/ cons of a diagnostic test? I'm being charged $93 for the test, does that sound ok?

A. If there is no lights on the dash then the car is not doing what they call "throwing a code" Where they simply plug in a cumputer to the car, get the code and look in a book to see what the problem is. If they were busy expect to wait at least an hour before they look at your car. Especially if you drop it off, then they are not in a rush. $93 is ridiculous, just email me next time with symptoms. You need to find yourself a trustworthy repair guy and get him to do it for free. Secondly the hesitation and fluctuation could be a few small things. New spark plugs, tightening of the throttle cable, new air filter, some fuel system cleaner and a Throttle Body cleaning which if all done by yourself would cost maybe, maybe $50 in parts if… [cont.]

Where can I find diagnostic trouble codes for a 1991 Dodge Dakota?
Q. Does anyone know where I can find diagnostic trouble codes for a 1991 Dodge Dakota (Manual Transmission, 2WD) or does anyone know what this code means? The "Check Engine" light flashes 3 times, pauses, flashes 5 times, pauses, and then flashes 5 times. After about 3-4 seconds it repeats the sequence.

A. your local part store should have a code key you stick in where the fuses go and it has a code book that comes with it. do you have an auto zone or advance auto part store near you? i know they have these key code books with the code key. we have 1 for each our vehicles from them. other auto part stores should have them. if all else fails call a dodge dealer and ask for the service dept an tell them what kind of code your getting they will tell you. I did that with our saturn until we got our book. and they did answer me even though we never bought the car from them.

A. First of all, my condolences to you. That sounds brutal. Although I do not have bipolar 2, I am left to wonder why they don't just call it quadpolar or quadrapolar? I think it would help to bring greater attention to this condition. A catchy name is half the battle, Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis was hiding in the shadows until it changed it's name to Lou Gherigs disease. Same problem with this Prolactinoom. Never heard of it. It sounds like some kind of lactating monkey disease. Am I close? I once dated an octoroon, and she was hot, but she definitely was not lactating.
