I just got one yesterday and though I'd bet for years that I had it, getting that diagnosis professionally feels devastating: I tried for decades to be someone that I was not cut out to be, & I'll never be who I've worked to become! Then I diagnosed the high cholesterol in my own Mother, as she had rings around her Iris. Mother Cholesterol was higher than mine and mine not high enough to warrant the Xanthoma. Always remember the skin can tell you a lot about the Health of a Patient. Hope that helps. I was also going to say hardening of the arteries as they get furred up with cholesterol deposits, which would lead to cardiovascular, high blood pressure.
